Banned from google, sort of

Postby webdanger on Tue Jan 27, 2009 2:12 pm

Something is wrong with my site, 3 weeks out of the month the site is on and can be found in google with the kw I wanted, one week after its down, completely banned from google, and then it takes a few days and its right back where it left. I did not spam neither too many kw on my page i have a decent amount of link exchanges, can't seem to understand whats the problem. Anyone experienced this before?

THanks

Hello Webdanger,

G00gle ways are often mysterious even for experienced people, I’m not a pro with SEO, but I’ll tell you my opinion and point some resources where you can research more about your problem.
I don’t think you’re banned, as far as I know being banned means that all your site pages are removed from google index. While it’s common for a new site to bounce from a page to another, or disappear completely for a keyword or more and then appearing again, it’s kind of weird and frustrating to see your old, well establish website, vanishing from g00gle for most of the keywords.
In most of the cases they have nothing to worry about, it can happen when g00gle perform updates etc but their sites will be back on the same positions or at least close ones, usually in few days .
I’ve been in this situation as well, one day one of my best sites has vanished from G for my best keywords, I did panic a bit being first time but after researching for a while I’ve found out that I was not the only one with the same problem, there were hundreds of webmasters on the forums having the same situation as me. Some were affected, some not… and I decided to wait for things to settle by itself and so it happened, my site was back in the game as before (even better) in 2-3 days.
I can’t be sure what’s happening with your website but it’s not banned, the fact that G it’s playing with it, may be due to many reasons (if it’s a new site.. it’s kind of normal to play with it like this) if not.. you have several things to check out in an effort to find out what is going on. I don’t know too much about penalties, but I do know that G can and will penalize things like: keyword stuffing, cross linking your sites having same or similar ip address, duplicate content, hidden text, linking to or receiving links from sites that were banned or penalized by G might also affect your site, having tons of external links on index and just a bit of good content etc etc etc. The number of sites that are linking to you it’s irrelevant, more important it’s the quality of those sites. If someone has copied your site (design, content etc) you will be affected as well, and if you found someone doing it you should report it to g00gle and his hosting company.

Without details about your site name, age, for how long has been in this situation etc.. might be hard for someone to know what’s wrong with it.

Anyhow if I were you, I would try to find if there is something I’m doing wrong, I would permanently try to improve my site by constantly adding fresh and unique content, finding quality links partners, fixing xhtml errors if exists.. doing small changes from time to time (not often) for testing purposes and so on.. Everything should be made with common sense and with the visitor in mind. From my experience most of the things related to big search engines are common sense, also it’s kind of easy to figure out most of the things just by looking at g00gle search results. If one it’s playing tricks and permanently looking for shortcuts in relation with search engines, it might work for a while, but sooner or later SE will figure it out and the “favor” it’s returned.

Thanks Johnny,

My practice is based on common sense, i have been trying to do the little things to achieve the bigger things but with no luck, my site is livepornmodels com, Created: 2007-07-08, so its not that new, the strange thing is that if i search google for livepornmodels i do not get any results with my website, this is while its down.

Its a strange pattern that for 3 months its 3 weeks on 1 week down then it drops for 3 weeks and it gets kind of back to its full power. It happened 3 times, same patters while i was trying to improve things, less kws better seo and validated webpages. I think i am overly careful with whom i make the link exchanges, i think they are quality links you can take a look at it using different tools.

Its frustrating YES and i've checked all the forums too, no one gets penalized so much and that hard! I tried to understand whats wrong with it for 6 months no and never could figure out whats wrong. I reviewed the links again checked the sites that link to my site and they are pretty ok, it might be the outgoing links for different affiliates i put a link on every picture and that might be the cause.

Thanks

Hello WebDanger,

Your blog it’s pretty nice, I’m sure it will get the proper ranking if you keep working on it. For the moment it looks like it’s under a google 950 penalty and till you don’t fix the source of the problem, the bouncing in and out for the top keywords might not stop (it could get even worse).

Research more on what google 950 penalty it’s all about and you might find the answers.
Your site was ranked well for these 2 keywords (there were more but I use these 2 as example)
Liveporn and porn cams – for both keywords livepornmodels.com were in first 10 results for some time, now your site it’s on position -950+ for same keywords. With “live porn” was listed at position 42 in the past, now it’s on 500+

950 penalty usually happens due to over optimizing, look more into this and I’m sure you’ll find the issue and the solution to fix it.
