It took me 4 months because I'm stupid. Guess what: many Surfers are likewise stupid. The idea of a good User Interface is to make it so intuitive that no Surfer would hesitate for even 10 seconds trying to guess what their next action should be. 10 seconds' hesitation = an excuse to click away from a webpage. That is why I'm so obsessive about seemingly minor UI details.

I show Live Chat with the sound disabaled (i.e., Volume = 0) because I don't want to distract the Surfer's attention from the rest of my webpage. That's why your friend was able to click the Volume button. Try the same test with the sound disabled. I guarantee that the first action will be to click the Enable/Disable icon. Then the Surfer will be perplexed (no sound yet). He may (or may not) figure out that "Volume" is a separate button requiring clicking.

Several ideas:
1) Place a "|" character between the Volume and the Enable/Disable icon
2) Change "Volume" to "Volume Adj"
3) Put a bounding box around "Volume" and a separate one around the Enable/Disable icon. Then put another bounding box around both buttons

=================================
Look, you have a really great looking (and performing) webcam site. But to tell the truth, it's only 90-95% great. I'm trying to help you make it closer to 100%. Reread my previous postings and email. They all help to improve your website.

Ok Sabaidii2, thanks again for the input, we will consider it. My opinion is that no matter how intuitive an interface is, there will always be users having trouble with a thing or another. Also a perfect interface for an individual might not be that perfect for another one and so on. Changing something in the system on one request it might end up in 100 complains from other users (I'm not talking about this case in particular, but in general).

That double action button, it's just different from other places and different it doesn't mean bad. Anyway I would prefer not to debate too much on the subject, I understood your point of view, all is clear, I will talk with my colleagues and see what is decided.

I will like to add that your help and ideas are really appreciated, we already implemented some of your ideas and others are under development. All the suggestions we receive from our users - are GOLD for us and we strive to implement as many as we can in time – but keep in mind that the list of tasks we have to do for both Xlovecam and Acwm is already huge, so a valuable suggestion we receive today that its approved for implementation, it might take longer than expected to be online.

Best regards, Johnny

Email Catcher Promo Tool

Postby sabaidii2 on Sun Oct 23, 2011 7:15 am

Overall, I really like the Email Catcher Promo Tool but I have one minor comment

Two of the images contain an oval with the camera lens: It looks out of place. Plus, I am only guessing what it's supposed to be. It looks odd/strange/distracting

Hi sabaidii2,

We are happy you like the tool :) about your comment, that webcam was our designer choice and as I saw is present on all 3 email cather styles. Now about being odd/strange/distracting probably is just a matter of personal taste, for me looks fine, but even if many people would see it as you, is not neccesary a negative aspect, in fact it can be positive if it catch their attention by being odd/strange/distracting etc.

From the Introduce Yourself Thread, posted by Barry-XloveCam on Sun Oct 30, 2011 7:53 pm:
"To be successful as a webcam sponsor's affiliate in general -- generate the qualified traffic to refer to the sponsor, ACWM in this case; Send us the qualified traffic we will sell it (convert it) that is how we both make money in this business."

Qualified Traffic
"Ay, there's the rub." - Hamlet, Act III, Scene 1. From the "To be, or not to be" soliloquy
(Don't you just love the Internet)

The rub is there is no way for Affiliates to know what constitutes "qualified traffic". The best metric is probably to know which country the traffic is coming from AND which countries convert best/worst. I don't know how Affiliates could influence the traffic origin, but at least give us the statistics.
I send a lot of traffic (Oct 2011: 3534 unique visits, 18 Sign Ups, 0 Sales)
I expected something better. Tips welcome.

What does your site stats say as to the country mix of the traffic traffic you are getting? (Google-Analytics, AWStats, etc.)

This might explain a few things ... Unfortunately, we do not track by country in the ACWM stats -- on the next version we will consider including that feature.

We have webmaster-affiliates converting at all rates and the reason is in most cases the quality of the traffic that they send to us.

Hi Bertto, both codes are valid, but if you have time it is recommended to update to the new ones as we might no longer support the old codes in the future - however we will announce if anything and allow at least 3 months for the affiliates to update their websites.
